Software Tech Lead – Drilling Monitoring
As a Software Tech Lead you will play a key role in shaping and delivering next generation of digital services within Drilling Monitoring systems.

4Subsea’s SWIM™ & RMS Development team as part of the Drilling Monitoring department is responsible for developing subsea structural integrity monitoring services for the offshore drilling market using data from sensors installed subsea and topside on drilling rigs to ensure safe and efficient execution of offshore drilling operations.

Responsibilities
As Software Tech Lead in the SWIM & RMS Development team, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering next generation of digital services under the Drilling Monitoring umbrella. More specifically, the role includes:
- Acting as Tech Lead for a small, skilled development team, leading the development of Drilling Monitoring products such as the Riser Monitoring System (RMS), and Subsea Well Integrity Monitoring (SWIM™)
- Leading the design, development, and implementation of scalable and secure software solutions to meet client and industry requirements
- Owning and evolving the software architecture, ensuring robust technological and architectural choices for both cloud-based and distributed systems
- Collaborating closely with product owners to define the vision and structure for Drilling Monitoring products
- Driving improvements to our software testing framework to strengthen automation, quality, and reliability
- Mentoring and training new developers, while actively sharing knowledge and best practices across the team, department, and company
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience with Python in web development
- Familiar with long-term digital product development and lifecycle management
- Hands-on experience with automated testing (unit testing and end-to-end testing), quality assurance, and DevOps practices
- Experience with product development towards engineering disciplines, preferably with in oil & gas or the energy sector in general
- Solid hands-on experience with Linux-based environments
We would also like to see that you have
- Experience in designing and implementing secure network architectures, with knowledge of edge computing and best practices in cyber security
- Experience with Azure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Bicep
- Experience with Angular or similar modern frontend frameworks
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools (e.g. pandas, plotting libraries)

Work location and reporting
- On-site in our office in Asker Norway with some flexibility to work remote
- The role reports to the Manager for SWIM & RMS Development
